How to take care about your piercing

In the studio HELL.cz the piercing doesn’t end with placing the jewelry into your skin. We are here to provide aftercare until complete healing of your piercing and your complete satisfaction.  

If you have ANY problem with your piercing or a suspicion that something is wrong, immediately contact HELL.cz by telephone  775 353 693.

• Don’t touch your new piercing (even though we know you desperately want to!)

• Don’t move your piercing in the hole! This leads only to irritation and doesn’t help the healing!

• For the aftercare of your new piercing use saline solution only. No other products (ointments, desinfections, antibiotics) are necessary or wanted.

General care with saline solution

Soak your piercing in the saline solution or apply it directly on it. Soak it for about 2 minutes; let it dry by itself or dry gently using sterile or clean material.

Use saline solution 2-3x a day. More frequent cleaning does not accelerate the healing process. Later clean your piercing once a day until complete healing. Even with fully healed piercing should be cleaned for prevention cca once a week.
 
In the first stage of healing there appear little yellow bits (scabs or scales) around the piercing hole. This is the dried tissue fluid that the body excretes from the wound in order to heal. Don’t peel them; you would disrupt the newly formed tissue. Instead wash them carefully off with saline solution using cotton buds or gauze. You can also use antibacterial soap, which you can get at the pharmacy. Wash the area around you piercing, not the piercing itself, the soap should not get directly into the wound. Don’t leave the soap on more than a minute and wash it off!

If you experience during the aftercare allergic reactions (such as redness of the area, itching or irritation), stop using antibacterial soap and make sure the concentration of salt water is not too strong. In the event that the allergic reactions persist, please contact us as soon as possible.

You can support the healing process by using vitamins C, E and B, magnesium, zinc and you can restrict smoking, which slows the healing process.

How to make saline solution

Put regular kitchen salt to clean glass of warm (not too warm!) water. Perfect mixture is one pinch of salt to big shot glass (0,5 dl) or one tea spoon to big glass of water (3 dl). This solution is both reliable and non-corrosive disinfectant.

Tongue piercing

Lip piercing (labret, madonna, medusa etc.)

Tongue piercing

Healing time: 4 weeks

After the piercing you tongue swells within 24 hours. Maximal swelling usually remains for cca 2 days, and then it will slowly return to its original form. Complete absorption the swelling occurs after about 1 week.

For first week rinse your mouth with quality antiseptic mouthwash without alcohol base (Listerine, Corsodyl, Tantum Verde) cca 5x a day. Rinse your mouth after every food. You can use the saline solution as well.

Cool it. You can suck ice cubes, eat ice cream (prefer watery ice cream), rinse your mouth out with clean cold water. But do not exaggerate, so you don’t catch cold.

For sleeping put more pillows under your head, so your tongue is over the level of heart. This can reduce swelling.

For the first days after piercing mushy and not spiced food is recommended.

Do not smoke at least 8 hours after the piercing. For the next 2 weeks to try to minimize smoking. The more you smoke, the longer it will heal. Rinse your mouth with mouthwash after smoking.

The first week avoid drinking from a common container and French kissing. You have an open wound in your mouth.

Do not play with your piercing. Fresh tissue around the piercing is very delicate and easily damaged.

Lip piercing (Labret, Madonna, Medusa, Chin etc.)

Healing time: 4-6 weeks

From the outside clean your piercing according the General care.

From the inside rinse your mouth with quality antiseptic mouthwash without alcohol base (Listerine, Corsodyl, Tantum Verde) cca 5x a day for 1-2 weeks. Rinse your mouth after every food and after smoking. You can use the saline solution as well.

Do not smoke at least 8 hours after the piercing. For the next 2 weeks to try to minimize smoking. The more you smoke, the longer it will heal. Rinse your mouth with mouthwash after smoking.

The first week avoid drinking from a common container and French kissing. You have an open wound in your mouth.

Navel Piercing

Healing time: 18 months

Complete healing of navel piercing requires more than a year. Even if you think after 2 months it is completely healed, it is not and it is a potential entrance for an infection!

First day
Remove the patch from your navel in the evening or subsequent morning while showering. There will be yellow bits (scabs or scales) around the piercing hole. This is the dried tissue fluid that the body excretes from the wound in order to heal. Don’t peel them, you would disrupt the newly formed tissue. Instead wash them carefully off with saline solution using cotton buds or gauze. You can also use antibacterial soap, which you can get at the pharmacy. Wash the area around you piercing, not the piercing itlself, the soap should not get directly into the wound. Don’t leave the soap on more than a minute and wash it off!

First three months
Care about your piercing according to General care.

For first month allways cover your piercing with a patch, when you are leaving home. It prevents against getting dirt into fresh piercing and against mechanical damage. After first month cover your piercing before demanding activities (sports, parties…). For the first 3 months do not bath in a tub and shower only. Avoid public swimming pools and especialy natural waters!

Care in the next 3-12 months
After 3 months continue washing your piercing once a day with saline solution. You can still patch your piercing before any demanding activities. After swimming in public swimming pool or natural waters, wash your piercing with antibacterial soap.

Approximately 3 months after piercing jewelry may be exchanged for a shorter and decorative one. We definitely do not recommend buying jewelry in non specialized stores or e-shop, since you never know what material is the jewelry REALLY made of. In our studio you can order jewelry with assured quality.

Nose Piercing (nostril, septum)

Healing time: 1-3 months

Care about your piercing according to General care.

Be careful while blowing your nose and while (un)dressing.

The nostril piercing likes to fall out sometimes. When your jewelry falls out, try to gently push back. This can be quite difficult due to complicated shape of the jewelry. If you don’t succeed, come to our studio as soon as possible and we’ll put it back for you. If this is not possible within a few hours put another clean and disinfected jewelry (straight bar earring) into the hole and come to the studio anyway.

Eyebrow Piercing

Healing time: 6 weeks

Care about your piercing according to General care.

Nipple Piercing

Healing time: 6-18 months, very individual

Complete healing of nipple piercing requires more than year and a half. Even if you think after 2 months it is completely healed, it is not and it is a potential entrance for an infection!

Female genital piercings

We recommend sex abstinence fot 2 days, then decide if you are able to have sex according to the pain you are experiencing. Be gentle! Use a condom for the first month. Condom use over the piercing requires some skill and practice. Remember you have an open wound in your genitals, there is increased risk of transmission of STDs. Ensure all principles of safe sex! 

Vertical and horizontal hood, labia minor, labia major

Healing time: 2-4 weeks horizontal and vertical hood, 2-5 months for labia

Care about your piercing according to General care. For this sensitive areas we do not recommend antibacterial soap. Use saline solution only. We recommend sex abstinence fot 2 days with and using condoms for the first month. Urine (your own) has desinfecting effect and helps to heal your piercing, there is no need for any special behavior during urinating.

Christina

Healing time: 12-18 months

Complete healing of christina piercing requires more than 12 months. Even if you think after 2 months it is completely healed, it is not and it is a potentian enterance for an infection!

First three months

Care about your piercing according to General care. For the first 3 months do not bath in a tub and shower only. Avoid public swimming pools and especialy natural waters!

Care in the next 3-12 months
After 3 months continue washing your piercing once a day with saline solution. After swimming in public swimming pool or natural waters, wash your piercing with antibacterial soap.

 

Male genital piercings

We recommend sex abstinence fot 2 days, then decide if you are able to have sex according to the pain you are experiencing. Be gentle! Use a condom for the first month. Condom use over the piercing requires some skill and practice. Remember you have an open wound in your genitals, there is increased risk of transmission of STDs. Ensure all principles of safe sex! 

Apadravya, Ampallang, Princ Albert, Reversed Princ Albert

Healing time: 6-8 months for Apadravya, 8-10 months and Ampallang, 10-12 weeks for (Reversed) Prince Albert

Care about your piercing according to General care. For this sensitive areas we do not recommend antibacterial soap. Use saline solution only. We recommend sex abstinence fot 2 days with and using condoms for the first month. Urine (your own) has desinfecting effect and helps to heal your piercing, there is no need for any special behavior during urinating.

Dydoe

Healing time: 6-18 months

Care about your piercing according to General care. For this sensitive areas we do not recommend antibacterial soap. Use saline solution only.

Scrotum

Healing time: 1-3 months

Apply General rules for piercing aftercare. We recoommend increased hygiena, since this area sweats a lot

Pubic

Healing time: 8-12 months

Complete healing of pubic piercing requires more than 12 months. Even if you think after 2 months it is completely healed, it is not and it is a potentian enterance for an infection!

First three months

Care about your piercing according to General care. For the first 3 months do not bath in a tub and shower only. Avoid public swimming pools and especialy natural waters!
